Fairlight

Early in February I made sure of picking up a bag of bitter Seville oranges in the hope we find time to cook up a fresh batch of beloved Marmalade! This year Lisa got on with it, whilst I sorted a fancy dress for the Limehouse utility party.

On my weekly walk to Yoshi stack each Wednesday, often pass by Limehouse foundry where some of the regulars of the weekly food coop work. When I met Ewan outside he kindly invited me in for a tour of the fascinating process which is spread between several floors of two buildings there. The regularly fire up that beast of a furnace so will hope to return for that!

Each Monday we meet with Dave Bernard and Kevin Sheridan at XYZ in Brentford as we continue the digitisation task for https://soziale-bildung.org/ – Projektkoordination Dokumentationszentrum. Mark Saunders had maintained a good relationship with communities he worked with there throughout the 90’s and Spectacle held a unique collection of community video documentation and German TV coverage of the 1992 anti Imigration riots.

The documentation center “Lichtenhagen im Gedächtnis” has the task of working up the Rostock-Lichtenhagen in 1992 program with a video archive, educational activities and web documentation, identifying places of confrontation with racism and right-wing violence, contributing to a sustainable commemoration.

Cardiacs toured the LSD album in March starting at Brixton Electric where we joined a huge crowd of loyal fans to experience an intense performance of the LP as well firm favourites from the archives! It’s 45 years since my first hilarious experience, which was at the tiny Swan pub in Kingston just prior to attending the poly as a design student.
