We began 2026 with a spectacular event at LimeHouse Town Hall where a group of like minded and innovative souls contributed time, effort and creativity to help present ‘The Laserium’, light organ and sonic syncopation by James Braddell AKA Funki Porcini.
At the Entrance Hall, YT showed the digital collection of Yoshi’s photographs on the house 120″ touchscreen, then ushered guests up to the grandstairs leading up the the dance hall pausing in wonder at Henry’s incredible kinetic optical sculpture which painted 360 degree illuminated textures.
Ben and Valentina of SDNA generated the building scale animated environment so the walls crawled with exotic textures and tones, setting the frame for such a great and varied weekend.
Andy Payne worked with James to rationalise the motion control and light intensity of The Laserium back in Warwick and his own well loved Crawly Bots – a gang of super augmented remote control 4 wheelers span around the hall whilst there was space to move.
Our compare and audience guide for the two day show was Ian Morrison, veteran hacker, magician and raconteur with a big affection for all the contributors. He skilfully drew audience attention, expressed genuine surprise and infectious delight at each turn of the event! Dr Duncan Reekie and Strickly Kev performed their speciality audio, video and spoken word interventions to compliment each evenings excitement and stretch expectations.
Sam Valient is the hugely talented and resourceful in-house AV wizard at LTH, without his drive and experience, little much would ever be possible or practical there. As well as co-ordinating from of house and refreshments, he provided a great sound system, lighting and projectors, rigging for the 12m screen and the biggest of smiles!
The Funki Porcini adventure has certainly set new heights with the Laserium! On this occasion James had prepared gigantic spread for the 500 laser array, with dazzling, dreamy and transportative panoramas, thunderous sub utramarines and sparkling cascades of crystal and azure galaxies.
All that worked out so well and we wound up with that great hearty feeling of accomplishment and promise for future engagements, mostly an appreciation of such successful collaboration, Many thanks to all involved !
